Other Writing

Although my primary focus in writing is upon the Worlds Saga and nonfiction, I do have a number of story ideas floating around both in novel-length and short-to-intermediate lengths for other science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery works.

My problem with short fiction is that I tend to write in genres that require extensive world creation, and my story lines tend to be of epic scope--not something easily compressed into ten thousand words or less. However, my first piece of "good" writing in my opinion was a "short" story I penned sometime around 1993-1994 of about 14,000 words. It's served me well in classes, and though it tends to be too long to publish in the mainstream market (where shorts tend to be eight thousand words or less), I have received positive editorial feedback and requests for further work based upon said story.
