Nightwalker Shido Costume

Shido and Guni from Nightwalker

Worn:
Nekocon 6

Brooke wore this Shido costume (with her Guni prop) to NekoCon 6; details to come soon.

Construction Time:
Fortunately, this costume came mostly from thrift-store purchases (the pants and vest) and already-owned parts (coat, shirt, glasses), so construction time was only a few hours, with most of that spent on Guni.

Nightwalker is a fun series about a detective who happens to be a vampire that combines elements of Forever Knight with Interview with the Vampire. The characters really make the series; the stories themselves are often so-so, but one comes to like Shido and Riho (and even Guni) over the course of the twelve episodes that make up Nightwalker.

As Beth and I were already going as Alucard and Seras from Hellsing, I thought it would be neat for my sisters Erika and Brooke to go as vampires as well. Although I didn't have time to complete the Riho costume, Brooke was able to put together Shido via a series of thrift-store purchases and garments she already owned.

Guni was made from a Barbie doll painted and with attached posterboard wings; although we got Guni's hair color wrong, I think she turned out really well overall.
